"<span style="font-weight: bold;">kim ekam dhaivatam loke?</span><br /> (Who is the greatest Lord in the world?)<br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">First, Yuddhishtir begins by asking what a kid would ask!</span><br /><br />2. <span style="font-weight: bold;">kim vaapyekam parayanam? </span> <br /> (<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Who is the one refuge of all?)</span><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Now, caught in the troubles of the world!</span><br /><br />3. <span style="font-weight: bold;">stuvantam kam prApnuyuh mAnavah subham?</span> <br /> (By glorifying whom, can man attain peace and prosperity?)<br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">The lookout for 'achievement' in life, and help in that very process!</span><br /><br />4. <span style="font-weight: bold;">kam arcanat prApnuyuh mAnavaah subham?</span> <br /> (By worshipping whom can man reach auspiciousness?)<br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">The lookout for a 'meaning' in life! Who will provide it?!</span><br /><br />5. <span style="font-weight: bold;">kO dharmah sarva dharmANaam bhavatah paramO matah? </span> <br /> (What is, in your opinion, the greatest Dharma(relegion)?)<br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Searching for knowledge on 'relegion'.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />6. kim japam mucyatE jantur janma samsAra bandhanAth? <br /></span><br /> (By doing Japa of what, can creature go beyond the bonds and cycle of birth and death?)<br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Last but not the least, how do I releive myself from this turmoil of birth, and death, and this in-between thing called 'life'?</span><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Yuddhishtir progresses from the most straightforward of questions, and then stacks the intensity.<br />Poor Bhishma, lying on a bed of arrows!<br />What would he tell this rather inquistive king?<br /></span><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);"></span>To be continued...<br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);"></span></div>In Love With Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11885990998291600147noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-841749418332384443.post-68554574894796776822010-06-21T17:20:00.002+05:302010-06-21T19:09:45.641+05:30Vishnu SahasranamamWhat is the Vishnu Sahasranamam?<br />The Vishnu Sahasranaamam was composed by Shri Veda Vyasa.<br />In the Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamaha spoke to Yuddhishtir the 1000 names of Lord Narayana, and it was put in its present lyrical form, thanks to the poetic genius of Ved Vyasa.<br />In this blog, i intend to give the English translation/meaning of the names of the Lord.<br />It is not my personal work, but what i have put together by reading from different sources.<br />As someone who is in the habit of reciting these 1000 names on a regular basis, being enlightened with their meanings was an eye-opener of sorts. i must say that am still in the learning process, but i wish to share what i do know with the people who come across this blog!<br />From my next post, by the grace of the Lord, i'll post the Sanskrit slokas with their English meanings.In Love With Krishnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11885990998291600147noreply@blogger.com0
